Thoughts randomly extracted from Zen archives. Our little Perverse Purgatory.

Please notice we had a lot of psychiatric to deal with as well thus this is a mix. And thoughts on Zen based on the book by Eugene Herrigel: The Method Of Zen.

NB. Please note that a Zen Koan is the Unimaginable. There are probably mention of Dinosaur loops here, just ignore them, its probably only dematerialization stuff into the soil. Nobody else knows what this so Who Cares, from of environmentalists in is the direction, it was dinosaurs after all.. Please remember to slice and dice here, in all this. (Supposedly a real classic.)

The is a chapter called The Koan where Herrigel tries to explain what a Koan is. He gives an example: “Show me your original face before you were born.?To me that was not easy and not difficult because I realized I had a photo of my self before I was «born». They did not have photography in ancient Zen times.

He goes on to mention «If you meet someone on the street who has attained to the truth, you must pass him neither speaking nor in silence. How would you meet him». I have met such a man and it's been difficult to approach him. But is the Koan presented here logical? Is the fact that the this someone in the street which you shall not do this and that important, or is it the latter part: «How would you meet?». For how is one to meet such, how is one to get to meet someone like that in the street. It doesn't happen each day! So to truly meet such a man must be an emotional experience. And maybe that experience is trigger not but actually meeting the man but from the idea contained in the Koan.

Please note that both David Bowie and Nirvana have records "The Man Who Sold The World". And we love the Nirvana Unplugged in New York, there's so much good stuff there from a Nirvana band that its. However some binary loops..

Also about music, is harmony some to actually tune a guitar only to acute hearing, without a tuner?

Further it states that a priest held his staff before the eyes of the assembled monks and told them the following: «If you call this a stick then it is disgusting. If you do not call it a stick it is wrong.» For one here we delve into mentality. This priests actual words may have not meaning, his phrase may be empty. So you laugh a bit at the nonsensical statement. Other Zen student have taken a different approach. They have seized the stick and in a frenzy of craziness proclaimed: «This is our holy THING a beacon upon which we shall put our light. A symbol of our forth coming enlightenment, we shall hold it dear for ever and ever» and the Master may give them the evil eye. Some may simply stare at the stick dumbstruck and get quite mad when the master point that condition out to them: «Who cares!! Silly stick-whatever» The master needs feedback himself. Then there is a dialogue, mutual.

The chapter goes furtheron to explain how the supposed tormented student, which phases he has to go through to understand the Koan and what that happens when he finally does where it says: In this state of spiritual tension , it may happen that the solution will suddenly come to him , quite unexpectedly . Or Else a shout, a loud noise, or, in obstinate cases—as used.....He now sees clearly where everything was a tangle before....The scales fall from his eyes....

We would say that this is about loosing ones thought constructs maybe. Of relating to things how they are not how one want them to be or how one just think they are.

«If a tree falls in the forest and no one hear it does it fall?» Well, what is up with this particular tree?

«Show me your original face before you were born». This is another difficult Koan. We ourselves have decided we have photographies of our original face and sometimes are able to display it in our selves. Photography was probably invented after this Koan.

What is the birth spoken of in this Koan? It may relate to the well known «independent origination» (SIC, actually a dig refference to sponatnously arising one), but before we were born we were our selves in the world. Then the world saw us and ate our bread or if we were like a drop of blood in water, the drop has become part of the water as a now homogeneous mass. This is one analogy which reflect how our essence became watered out into the environment.

The first chapter of the book is called The Way to Zen Buddhism . In this chapter Herrigel relates what really prompted him or something, to go to Japan and study Zen, however that Zen supposedly can not be studied. He relates an incident, at maybe a hotel ,at the time of an Earth-quake. He tells us that there becomes lots of turmoil among the people at the restaurant in this floor when the Earth Quake strikes, except for the, unknown to him Zen Master, who simply put does not pay attention to all the fuzz. The Zen Master merely sit and wait until the quake is over and then continue the conversation with Herrigel who is astonished at this.

What that I am getting into here is an explanation of the Zen Master's calm during the earthquake. First of all we do not know what causes earthquakes except about the tectonic plates and so on, but things are different in the Quantum where things are more holistic. What that prompt people to abruptly do things in say an earthquake situation is Fire. Fire is a force which act upon any kind of matter and animate it. So why was not this Zen master animated. Fire sometimes act like a push, one is briefly put on fire and move. This Zen Master must have caught fire him self too but it would probably ignite a flame so to speak. Or he could have had high adrenaline levels at the time, possibly both. Looking at the Quantum level the Zen Master may have even been the cause of the earth-quake in extreme speculation although this is a horrible idea.. Herrigel states what sounds like that this may have been an enlightening experience for him, Herrigel. This incident apparently made his determination to go to Japan stronger.

Part 2. If a tree falls in the forest and no-one hears it , does it fall?!

- First off, randomly, if the tree has got a very important sign attached to it then it could be unfortunate if it were demolished. Second that fall here simply implies not spring. Maybe that the tree has a note saying something like 'freeze' or 'I am freezing god dammit'.

And:

- Master someone (who is know starting to attack his own chess pieces since all yours are gone) held up his cut off or what hand. People probably had lots of reactions to this , although that there is a distinct difference between experiencing something and reacting . It is two different words. Reaction as in ab reacting. One may ab react until one get no more ab-reaction but rather an experience, hormones , physical, in the endocrine system mixing as in alchemy creating a sense of things. There are countless of hormones and emotions. So when they, the so called chemicals in the brain, start off to work, then one has an feeling. We just don't know how many there are but we have encountered unexpected feelings and emotions our selves. You pass a man that has attained to the truth in the street. You can neither greet him nor not greet him. - In a sense of the logic of language, you don't know this man so there is no reason for you to have any sort of initial reaction towards him , neither greeting not greeting, so this is not a problem. . Although that the man may have attained to the truth that he is not getting old then you may discuss this with him. So this simply means you stop. And instigate a conversation or something like that. He may truly be going into the great unknown.

Stop.

What came first? The chicken or the egg? - Again as stated by Herrigel the point of this is to first understand at all the question. If someone plainly is talking to you but you can't hear then that it will not make much sense, and it is the same with these questions, that if you do not really understand the question then that you can sewer it. You can not answer it. Our conclusions may be wrong: There was an ancient tribe some time in the past who came upon a strange animal and its offspring. So farming or hunting or what. Keep up the Hen (chicken) to continuously breed eggs or simply roast the chicken or Hen. So which one did they sacrifice. We think that obviously it is a way to get one thinking but we do perhaps think that to put something in plain terms, to explain something is OK too. Newton , some physicist or thinker of times is said that an apple fell on his head and he realized gravity. This may seem as ludicrous as that the oil is not , the platforms , oil rigs are mosquitoes, that the oil is not some sort of blood that runs through our earth. An anagram, rearrangement of Earth, the word , is Hearth. We are told that the oil is from Dinosaurs and such but conclude that if they indeed do pour in water to replace the oil then we should at least use golden water. Then may we finally have peace. Golden water is now , or it could be red if oxidized maybe, made out of silver and watt and water. An apple could or will resemble an magnetic monopole in that it is just attached to one 'chord'. It is not the typical globus , map of the globe , like a barbeque roll or what. It is attached through a mono system. So it resembles an egg in that it is not a perfect sphere.

On a sidenote it's about Kung Fu.

- The Earth how ever has a moon , which may have been the core of the earth removed, but it is out there in space and revolving around the earth but we can not know if it is an indication that this planet that we are talking about and the cosmic , large area, a simple model of the earth sun and moon.

Maybe we would have to ask someone else about.

Back again to the topic, Zen and though. Newton looked at the apple perhaps and got the picture. Earth. It may not have been anything else than that. However realizing the earth as one giant monopole can be traumatic. Indeed we could understand how moving towards the singularity at one of what we term poles would be difficult. Ire. North and South Poles that is.

A Koan may also have emotional content and may lead to both positive and negative ab-reactions that are usually in different tense. So a great disaster but still some hope for instance. That may not be a correct description as this crowd. It may be a description of a primitive life. No factories, no electricity, nothing much. What that we are trying to do here is straighten things out a bit. (This is just not a Koan, a Koan anyway , we do not have any other way of describing what it is except by the round about route(?) presenting here. What a Koan is.) The Koan is, (at least we think so, we are not sure if it actually has any meaning):

Part 3. Unimaginable Something, our limited experience with Zen-koan..(Under construction)

Is it allowed to swim in Zen-koans and explain them?

And what about what?

One a Koan goes like this: "Does a dog have future / zen nature?" and one should not nipple at it.

Then there a practical joke about a Zen master and a hot-dog stand. The master ask for "one with everything", pays for the hot-dog and retorts to the hot-dog stand man "where is my change?!". This has nothing to do with the joke above, or below it is.

A zen-koan might only be explainable through an experience.

And Think of it like this (if you will):

You do have a miss-behaving dog, in our case the animal's name is Winnie. And what you are somewhat beyond that is termed emotional spirit anger-barrier. Animals know our original "nature" while we don't sometimes.

A solution is to "command" the animal like we could do: "DOES A DOG HAVE BUDDHA NATURE, Winne?! :) ", which maybe while your hair will stand on end too curious..This is just that animals are not so stupid as they "make us believe" of all course and all though they do not understand much verbal logic perhaps , what they do understand good is emotional "sentiments"..Maybe the questions should much rather be "Does a dog have good Buddha-Nature?", nothing says do permit us to evolve Koans. In our experience contrary not to facts there are people with all various "interests" in the World..

Another just one is like this: "What is the sound of one hand clapping?!".

That one was one nasty-easy piece. It used to be a painful joke from Zen-Masters about maybe evil and decapitation as we mention space elsewhere. But also normally (?) when on hand is clapping it's due to the other one shaking your hand. This by all means doesn't mean that you have to use both hands when greeting someone as always.

Or vice versa is the technically, ..

But let's say you greet some person in this manner (or he greets you) and you suddenly and simultaneously are aware of the Koan's meaning there instantly. BOOM; Satori, hands trembling, breaking out in sweat, etc. Or start laughing nervously what..just a temporary shock. Shock due to some intangible "force", perhaps.

Note: Actually, all this because no-one has of yet this claimed that the old Norse Prose Edda (a book), are actually Viking versions of these so-called Haiku-poems. This is but is also more something of a paradox that..

And if you have other logical explanations to Koan do not hesitate to mail us. Especially if one can explain the following one: "The answer to your problem is on a notice pinned to a tree.". The "Prose Edda" or "Saemundar Edda" as the real title for it is, Bananas, so what why does this something book gain no attention while so-called Zen-Buddhism, ..Maybe the Viking "Spirit" is not so obvious or not in modern Scandinavia or the Nordic countries, whatever much more..

Additional comments assimilated from front-pages:

The Critisim of Herrigel: This site finds Herrigel's book "Der Zen Weg" (Original German Title) to be interesting regardless. It might also be an extreme Haiku, at least the first pages we managed to swim through of the English rendering was a Haiku or Koan, as we have mentioned before. But there also seems to be a bit of Hentai (good Zen) in reading it on a regular basis so maybe that's a source of something.

We note Buddhism is at least not a dogmatic one religion. It's not a one religion more like?? It is said that to be a Buddhist become a Buddhist one must take a refuge in the so-called Three Jewels, (which are) most noted the Buddha, much said also the Dharma (correct knowledge) and Sangha (the community). And some defense of his book "Zen in the Art of Archery": (2020 Note).Of course not, so-called Satori achieved by the Students, is actually "merging" with the Master to say finally. This explains his venture into Archery, a supreme mental effort to "merge" finally with the Master: Herrigel has a "master" who manages to hit the bulls-eye and hit the arrow in the bulls-eye which apparently has something like sigma-11 co-incidence factor to it (so what?):

Well, even if it was extraordinary luck by A. (Master) no-one is to say that it can not be considered beautiful since we all have our own oppinion about things.

Weather or not it actually was abilities of A or a sort of fluke of the universe, we understand it such that Buddhism tries to tell us there is really no way of discovering anything about that (before one actually, does).

Part 4. The so-called millennium challenges especially if P=PN, sounds like a Zen problem (koan) so if anyone have fixed it they still no dub will user it for their own advantage. I.e. the problem is solvable but it requires one to actually understand the problems first of course? Maybe not, but Zen would probably help or rather be a first requirements. The sollution here only briefly looks to Taoism. Chung Tzu had something he called Inner and Outer chambers. Or the Matroshka dolls. But the everything that is in contained in this. What is. Going inwards like this is not really reasonable. More on that later. There is an infinite expanse and there is inwards into matter and electrons and protons and neutrons.
